"Good for practice, but the culture side could be stronger"
I’ve found the lessons useful for practice, and I do think it’s fair to give credit where it’s due, the core material is solid. That said, the cultural examples felt a little generic to me. They’re not bad, but I was hoping for something a bit more specific and meaningful to help the language feel more connected to real life.

"My first impression wasn’t great. I was…"
My first impression wasn’t great. I was hoping for something a bit more challenging, but the lessons felt way too easy right from the start. It’s probably fine if you’re just looking for the basics, but I’m more advanced and didn’t feel like I was getting much out of it. Not really worth it for me

"Refund process was a hassle"
I cancelled the same day after realizing I had chosen the wrong plan, so I figured getting a refund would be straightforward.
I was already a bit stressed and annoyed about the mistake, and the support replies just made it worse. They felt like copy-paste messages, mostly pointing me back to the terms instead of actually responding to what I was saying.

The app itself might be fine, but this refund experience was really frustrating. I still haven’t gotten my money back, i don’t plan on using Babbel again.

"Good app, but the syncing isn’t what I expected"
babbel itself is decent, but I expected the phone and laptop sync to be a lot smoother. Sometimes lessons I’ve already finished show up like I haven’t done them, and my progress can take forever to update. I’ve had to redo parts or log out and back in just to get things lined up again. For an app like this, I’d expect switching between devices to be seamless, and right now it’s more frustrating than it should be

"Wanted to Love It, But Wow, What a Maze"
I really wanted to like babbel, but the course structure feels kind of all over the place. Some lessons suddenly throw you into full phrases before you’ve even covered the basics, because apparently guessing is a learning strategy now. Then other stuff gets repeated so much that I’m like, yes, I got it, thank you. It’s not terrible, but it definitely doesn’t feel like a smooth path, and it’s just not working that well for me...

"Had a billing issue pop up…"
Had a billing issue pop up, because apparently my account wanted to add a little excitement to my day. I contacted support and, to my surprise, they replied quickly and actually helped sort it out. Smooth experience overall.

"Lessons Started to Feel Repetitive"
After using it for a while, I felt like the lessons were pretty much the same thing over and over. There wasn’t enough variety to keep me interested, and I got bored faster than I expected. For me personally, it just didn’t feel fresh enough to stick with.

"Bad timing and way too many random words"
This showed up at the worst possible time, and when I finally had a chance to deal with it, it was just packed with too many random words. It felt messy and hard to follow, and the timing made it even more frustrating.

"I really wanted to like Babbel…"
I really wanted to like Babbel, but the app has been kind of a joke for me. Lessons freeze all the time, the audio randomly decides not to load, and it even lost my progress twice after I’d already finished a lesson. I updated it, restarted my phone, did the usual little tech dance, and nothing changed. It’s hard to learn a language when the app can’t even handle the basics. Just frustrating.

"not enough languages for me"
babbel seems fine if you’re learning one of the bigger, more popular languages, but the selection felt limited for what i was looking for. i was hoping there’d be more options, especially some less common languages.
the app itself looked easy enough to use, but i didn’t really get far because the main language i wanted wasn’t available. kind of a letdown, honestly.

"Good Start, But Beginners Deserve a Bit More Guidance"
I found Babbel easy to get into as a beginner. The lessons are short, clear, and not too intimidating, which made me feel like I could actually stick with it. That said, after a while some sections started moving faster than I was ready for, and I had to repeat things quite a bit. I don’t think it’s a bad app at all, but I do feel like if something is aimed at total beginners, it should take a little more responsibility in explaining the basics clearly instead of rushing ahead. Overall, it’s helpful, but it could be more supportive for people starting from zero.

"I went through all the lessons, and I..."
I went through all the lessons, and I was hoping I’d feel more confident talking afterward. But i still can’t really hold a conversation, well, not comfortably anyway. It gave me some practice, but it didn’t actually help me speak better the way I expected.

"I’ve been using this to practice…"
I’ve been using this to practice speaking, but it keeps marking words wrong even when I’m sure I said them correctly. It gets frustrating fast, and I don’t want to keep second-guessing myself or wasting practice time because of inaccurate feedback.

"Offline mode dosen't really work"
I downloaded a bunch of lessons expecting to use them on my commute, but they still won’t open when I don’t have signal. Kinda defeats the whole point of offline mode, honestly. Useless for me right now.

"The grammar explanations felt a little too thin for me"
I really wanted to like Babbel more than I did, and there were definitely parts of it that were fine, but the grammar sections just didn’t quite work for me. A lot of the time the explanations felt short, almost like they were giving me the basic rule and then moving on before I actually understood how or why it worked. I kept running into moments where I’d think, “Okay, but why is it used that way?” and the app didn’t really go much deeper. Because of that, I ended up searching things on Google often just to get a fuller explanation or some extra examples. It’s not terrible, but if you’re someone who likes grammar to be explained clearly and with a bit more context, it might feel a little lacking.

"Decent, but I wanted more real conversation practice"
I was hoping for more actual speaking practice, but a lot of it felt scripted and over too quickly. It wasn’t useless, and I did get some value from it, but it didn’t really push me enough to feel more confident speaking out loud. I reached out to support and they basically said something like, “the lessons are designed to build confidence step by step,” which I get, but I still wish there were longer, more natural conversations.

"Babbel Felt Too Repetitive to Be Worth It"
I gave Babbel a try for a few weeks, but the lessons felt way too basic and repetitive for me. Most of the time it was just clicking through phrases without much real explanation, so I didn’t feel like I was actually learning how to speak the language. It felt more like memorizing random bits than building real skills. For what I paid, I was expecting a lot more, and I do think some kind of refund or compensation would be fair.

"Pronunciation practice was kinda a mess"
I was hoping the pronunciation practice would help but it just didn’t work for me... the speaking checks kept marking stuff as fine when it was clearly wrong, then it would reject words I know I said clearly. Got frustrating quick

"Good audio, but kind of stressful sometimes"
I do like that Babbel uses native speaker audio because it really helps you hear how things are supposed to sound. Some of the lessons are super clear and feel really natural. But then out of nowhere, a clip will be way too fast or kind of muffled, and I end up replaying it over and over, which gets more stressful than I expected. It’s not a bad app overall, I just wish the audio quality and speed were more consistent from lesson to lesson.

"Decent lessons, frustrating cancellation"
I actually thought the lessons were good, so I wanted to like the app more than I did. But the billing situation really left a bad taste in my mouth. I was under the impression I had cancelled before the renewal, then I suddenly saw another charge on my card and felt frustrated. It also wasn’t obvious where to go to cancel, which made the whole thing feel more stressful than it needed to be. Support did get back to me eventually, but it took longer than I hoped. Overall, it’s not a terrible app, but the cancellation process really needs to be much clearer and easier
